حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِى إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِى بَكْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- عَنِ الْفِضَّةِ بِالْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ بِالذَّهَبِ إِلاَّ سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ وَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَشْتَرِىَ الْفِضَّةَ بِالذَّهَبِ كَيْفَ شِئْنَا وَنَشْتَرِىَ الذَّهَبَ بِالْفِضَّةِ كَيْفَ شِئْنَا. قَالَ فَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَدًا بِيَدٍ فَقَالَ هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ.
'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakrah narrated that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) forbade selling silver for silver and gold for gold, except like for like; and he told us to buy silver for gold however we wished, and to buy gold for silver however we wished." He said: "A man asked him: 'Hand to hand?' He said: 'That is what I heard."'
