Sahih Muslim Book - 3, Hadith - 829
و حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ مَوْلَى آلِ السَّائِبِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ ذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْغَائِطِ فَلَمَّا جَاءَ قُدِّمَ لَهُ طَعَامٌ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَا تَوَضَّأُ؟ قَالَ: لِمَ؟ أَلِلصَّلَاةِ؟.
It was narrated from Sa'eed bin Al-Huwairith, the freed slave of the family of As-Sa'ib, that he heard 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas say: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) went to relieve himself, and when he returned, some food was offered to him. It was said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, aren't you going to perform Wudu '?' He said: 'Why? For prayer?"'
