Sahih Muslim Book - 36, Hadith - 5240
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لاِبْنِ عَبَّادٍ ، قَالاَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو صَفْوَانَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ : قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِهِ بِإِيلِيَاءَ بِقَدَحَيْنِ مِنْ خَمْرٍ وَلَبَنٍ ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِمَا فَأَخَذَ اللَّبَنَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَاكَ لِلْفِطْرَةِ ، لَوْ أَخَذْتَ الْخَمْرَ غَوَتْ أُمَّتُكَ.
Abu Hurairah said: "On the night on which he (s.a.w) was taken on the Night Journey, in Iliya' (Jerusalem), the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) was brought two vessels, one of wine and the other of milk. He looked at them and chose the milk. Jibril' said to him: 'Praise be to Allah Who has guided you to the Fitrah. If you had chosen the wine, your Ummah would have gone astray."'
