Sahih Muslim Book - 37, Hadith - 5392
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ (ح) وحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي (ح) وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ (ح) وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي بَهْزٌ ، قَالُوا جَمِيعًا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، بِإِسْنَادِهِمْ وَمَعْنَى حَدِيثِهِمْ ، إِلاَّ قَوْلَهُ: وَإِفْشَاءِ السَّلاَمِ ، فَإِنَّهُ قَالَ: بَدَلَهَا وَرَدِّ السَّلاَمِ ، وَقَالَ: نَهَانَا عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ ، أَوْ حَلْقَةِ الذَّهَبِ.
It was narrated from Ash'ath bin Sulaim with their chain of narrators, except the words spreading the greeting of Salam, instead of which he said: "Returning the greeting of Salam." And he said: "He (s.a.w) forbade us to wear gold rings."
