It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "I took 'Abdullah bin Abi Talhah Al-Ansari to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) when he was born, and the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) was wearing a cloak and daubing pitch on a camel of his. He said: 'Do you have any dates with you?' I said: 'Yes.' I gave him some dates and he put them in his mouth and softened them, then he opened the baby's mouth and put some in his mouth, and the baby started to smack his lips. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'How the Ansar love dates,' and he named him 'Abdullah."
