حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الأَشْجَعِيِّ ، قَالَ: كُنَّا نَرْقِي فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، كَيْفَ تَرَى فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ : اعْرِضُوا عَلَيَّ رُقَاكُمْ ، لاَ بَأْسَ بِالرُّقَى مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ شِرْكٌ.
It was narrated that ‘Awf bin Malik Al-Ashja’i said: “We used to recite Ruqyah during the Jahiliyyah, and we said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what do you thing about that?’ He said: ‘Present your Ruqyah to me. There is nothing wrong with a Ruqyah that does not involve Shirk.”’
