Sahih Muslim Book - 4, Hadith - 856
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَاللَّفْظُ لِقُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ النِّدَاءَ بِالصَّلَاةِ أَحَالَ لَهُ ضُرَاطٌ حَتَّى لَا يَسْمَعَ صَوْتَهُ فَإِذَا سَكَتَ رَجَعَ فَوَسْوَسَ فَإِذَا سَمِعَ الْإِقَامَةَ ذَهَبَ حَتَّى لَا يَسْمَعَ صَوْتَهُ فَإِذَا سَكَتَ رَجَعَ فَوَسْوَسَ.
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "When the Shaitan hears the call to prayer, he runs away breaking wind so that he will not hear the sound. When it ends, he comes back and whispers (distractions), then when he hears the Iqamah he runs away so that he will not hear the sound, then when it ends, he comes back and whispers (distractions)."
