حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو فَذَكَرْنَا حَدِيثًا عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ ذَاكَ الرَّجُلَ لاَ أَزَالُ أُحِبُّهُ بَعْدَ شَيْءٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُهُ ، سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : اقْرَؤُوا الْقُرْآنَ مِنْ أَرْبَعَةِ نَفَرٍ : مِنِ ابْنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ ، فَبَدَأَ بِهِ ، وَمِنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، وَمِنْ سَالِمٍ ، مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ ، وَمِنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ. وَحَرْفٌ لَمْ يَذْكُرْهُ زُهَيْرٌ ، قَوْلُهُ : يَقُولُهُ.
It was narrated that Masruq said: "We were with 'Abdullah bin 'Amr and we mentioned a Hadith from 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud. He said: 'That is a man whom I still love after something that I heard the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) say. I heard him say: "Learn the Qur'an from four people: from Ibn Umm 'Abd - and he started with him - from Ubayy bin Ka'b, from Salim the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifah and from Mu'adh bin Jabal."
