Sahih Muslim Book - 44, Hadith - 6341
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو دَاوُدَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : مَنْ جَمَعَ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : أَرْبَعَةٌ ، كُلُّهُمْ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ : أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ ، وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ ، وَزَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، وَرَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ يُكْنَى أَبَا زَيْدٍ.
Qatadah said: "I said to Anas bin Malik: 'Who collected the Qur'an at the time of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w)?' He said: 'Four (people), all of them from among the Ansar: Ubayy bin Ka'b, Mu'adh bin Jabal, Zaid bin Thabit and a man from among the Ansar who was known as Abu Zaid."'
