حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ كُلُّهُمْ عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِزُهَيْرٍ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، سَمِعَ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ ، يَقُولُ: حَدَّثَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ: ائْذَنُوا لَهُ ، فَلَبِئْسَ ابْنُ الْعَشِيرَةِ ، أَوْ بِئْسَ رَجُلُ الْعَشِيرَةِ فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ أَلاَنَ لَهُ الْقَوْلَ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، قُلْتَ لَهُ الَّذِي قُلْتَ ، ثُمَّ أَلَنْتَ لَهُ الْقَوْلَ ؟ قَالَ: يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّ شَرَّ النَّاسِ مَنْزِلَةً عِنْدَ اللهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، مَنْ وَدَعَهُ ، أَوْ تَرَكَهُ النَّاسُ اتِّقَاءَ فُحْشِهِ.
'Aishah narrated that a man asked permission to enter upon the Prophet (s.a.w) and he said: "Let him in, what a bad (man of his tribe, on what a bad member of the tribe he is!" When he came in, he spoke kindly to him. 'Aishah said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you said what you said about him, then you spoke kindly to him?' He said: 'O 'Aishah, the worst of people in status before Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be those whom the people leave alone or abandon in order to protect themselves from their vile behavior."
