It was narrated from Ibn Shihab, when he was speaking of Al-Hijr, the habitation of the Thamud: "Salim bin 'Abdullah said that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said: 'We passed by Al-Hijr with the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w), and the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said to us: "Do not enter the dwellings of those who wronged themselves unless you are weeping, lest there befall you something like that which befell them." Then he urged his mount to move on quickly until he left the place behind."'
