حَدَّثَنِى أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ الْعَبْدِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِى مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَى رَبِّهِمُ الْوَسِيلَةَ) قَالَ كَانَ نَفَرٌ مِنَ الإِنْسِ يَعْبُدُونَ نَفَرًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَأَسْلَمَ النَّفَرُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ. وَاسْتَمْسَكَ الإِنْسُ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ فَنَزَلَتْ (أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَى رَبِّهِمُ الْوَسِيلَةَ)
It was narrated from 'Abdullah (concerning the Verse): "Those whom they call upon desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord..." he said: "A group of humans used to worship a group of jinn, and the group of jinn became Muslims, but the humans persisted in worshiping them. Then it was revealed: "Those whom they call upon desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord..."
