وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ - وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْقَارِىُّ - عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِى صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- قَالَ « يَنْزِلُ اللَّهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ حِينَ يَمْضِى ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الأَوَّلُ فَيَقُولُ أَنَا الْمَلِكُ أَنَا الْمَلِكُ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِى يَدْعُونِى فَأَسْتَجِيبَ لَهُ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِى يَسْأَلُنِى فَأُعْطِيَهُ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِى يَسْتَغْفِرُنِى فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ فَلاَ يَزَالُ كَذَلِكَ حَتَّى يُضِىءَ الْفَجْرُ ».
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "Allah comes down to the lowest heaven every night when the first third of the night has passed, and says: 'I am the Sovereign, I am the Sovereign. Who will call upon Me, that I may answer him? Who will ask of Me, that I may give him? Who will ask Me for forgiveness, that I may forgive him?' And that continues until the light of dawn."
