Jabir bin 'Abdullah said: "I married a woman at the time of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w), and I met the Prophet (s.a.w) and he said: 'O Jabir, have you gotten married?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'A virgin or a previously-married woman?' I said: 'A previously-married woman.' He said: 'Why not a virgin so you could play with her?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have sisters, and I was afraid that she might cause trouble between myself and them.' He said: 'That's fine then. A woman is married for her religion, her wealth or her beauty. Choose the one with religion, may your hands be rubbed with dust."'
