حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ - يَعْنِى ابْنَ مَهْدِىٍّ - حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ عَادَنِى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- وَأَنَا مَرِيضٌ وَمَعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مَاشِيَيْنِ فَوَجَدَنِى قَدْ أُغْمِىَ عَلَىَّ فَتَوَضَّأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- ثُمَّ صَبَّ عَلَىَّ مِنْ وَضُوئِهِ فَأَفَقْتُ فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ فِى مَالِى فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَىَّ شَيْئًا حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْمِيرَاثِ.
Jabir bin 'Abdullah said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) visited me while· I was sick, and Abu Bakr was with him. (They came) walking and found me unconscious. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) performed Wudu'. Then he poured some of the water on me, and I regained consciousness, and saw the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) there. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what should I do with my wealth?' He did not give me any reply until the Verse of inheritance was revealed."
"When a person dies, his works end, except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him."

"The best of what a man leaves behind are three: a righteous child who supplicates for him, ongoing charity the reward of which reaches him, and knowledge that is acted upon after him."

"Every day two angels come down from Heaven and one of them says, 'O Allah! Compensate every person who spends in Your Cause,' and the other (angel) says, 'O Allah! Destroy every miser.'"
