Sahih Muslim Book - 44, Hadith - 6427

وحَدَّثَنِي عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالاَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، سَمِعَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَهُوَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ عَظِيمٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ أُحَدِّثُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ قَالُوا: نَعَمْ ، يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَنُو عَبْدِ الأَشْهَلِ قَالُوا : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ قَالُوا: ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ قَالُوا: ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ بَنُو سَاعِدَةَ قَالُوا : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ فِي كُلِّ دُورِ الأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ فَقَامَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ مُغْضَبًا ، فَقَالَ: أَنَحْنُ آخِرُ الأَرْبَعِ ؟ حِينَ سَمَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَارَهُمْ ، فَأَرَادَ كَلاَمَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رِجَالٌ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ: اجْلِسْ ، أَلاَ تَرْضَى أَنْ سَمَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَارَكُمْ فِي الأَرْبَعِ الدُّورِ الَّتِي سَمَّى ؟ فَمَنْ تَرَكَ فَلَمْ يُسَمِّ أَكْثَرُ مِمَّنْ سَمَّى ، فَانْتَهَى سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ عَنْ كَلاَمِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

Abu Hurairah said: "While he was in a large gathering of Muslims, the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'Shall I tell you about the best clans of the Ansar?' They said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'Banu 'Abdul-Ashhal.' They said: 'Then who, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Then Banu An-Najjar.' They said: 'Then who, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Then Banu Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj.' They said: 'Then who, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Then Banu Sa'idah.' They said: 'Then who, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Then in every clan of the Ansar there is goodness.' "Sa'd bin 'Ubadah stood up angrily and said: 'Are we the last of the four?' And he wanted to speak to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) ' but a man among his people said: 'Sit down. Are you not pleased that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) mentioned your clan among the four clans whom he mentioned by name? Those whom he left and did not mention by name are more than those whom he did mention by name.' So Sa'd bin 'Ubadah dropped the idea of speaking to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w)."
