Qur’an Al-Ahqaf (46:34)

And so, on the Day when those who were bent on denying the truth will be brought within sight of the fire [and will be asked], "Is not this the truth?" - they will answer, "Yea, by Our Sustainer!" [And] He will say: "Taste, then, this suffering as an outcome of your denial of the truth!"
  - Mohammad Asad

On the Day when the unbelievers will be brought before the fire, Allah will ask: "Is this not real?" "Yes, by our Rabb!" They will answer. "Well, then taste the punishment now," Will He reply, "in consequence of your disbelieve."
  - Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam Malik
Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam Malik
And on the Day the disbelievers will be exposed to the Fire, 'they will be asked,' 'Is this 'Hereafter' not the truth?' They will cry, 'Absolutely, by our Lord!' It will be said, 'Then taste the punishment for your disbelief.'

And on the day when those who disbelieve are exposed to the Fire (they will be asked): Is not this real? They will say: Yea, by our Lord. He will say: Then taste the doom for that ye disbelieved. .

And on the Day that the Unbelievers will be placed before the Fire (they will be asked) "Is this not the Truth? " They will say "Yea by our Lord!" (One will say:) "Then taste ye the Penalty for that ye were wont to deny (Truth)!" 4813 4814
  - Abdullah Yusuf Ali

The Truth which they denied is now all too clear to them. They are out of the Light of Truth, out of the Light of Allah's Countenance. And that in itself is a terrible Penalty.

Cf. xlvi. 20, where the argument was closed about the undutiful son of a good father. After that the example of the 'Ad and of the believing Jinns was cited, and now is closed that argument in similar terms.
